North Korea

This past weekend, North Korea marked the 60th anniversary of the armistice that halted the Korea war with a display of military might and pageantry. The country's 30-year-old leader, Kim Jong Un, presided over a massive parade of troops and weaponry as well the Arirang mass games. A handful of western journalists—normally barred from entering the country—were invited to witness the spectacle.

These rarely captured images offer a glimpse into life in a country notorious for its reclusive practices.
